Last week, I connected with Trisha Harding Morrison on Facebook because of a fan page for Tommy Morrison that I had forgotten about. It's amazing how life can surprise you.
I just heard the sad news that Rocky V's Tommy Gunn has passed away. He was someone who made a small impact on our childhoods. It's sad to see that people we know are slowly leaving us.
He was a young boxer, like Sinan Samil Sam who passed away today. I was looking at videos of his matches and I read a comment that made me smile. It said that they once saw Morrison getting beaten up by an old Italian man in an alley one night.
He finally got the video he deserved. He was born in Arkansas and raised in Colorado, which represents the German-Scottish ranchers of the inland states. He is the embodiment of the United States in one person.
After watching a scene from Rocky 5, I went to investigate and found out that Rocky's son, Tommy Gunn, had passed away weeks ago. I was looking to see if Rocky was still boxing when I got this news. Tommy was like a stepson to Rocky and was only 44 years old. It was a sad situation.
He had a boxing match with John Castle on February 22, 2007 and won by stopping the match in the second round. I was surprised to hear about this and I was shocked to see what was happening. I hope he continues to box in the future because the boxing world has missed him for 11 years. I recently found out that the HIV tests were wrong and I was angry again. That means he was told he was HIV positive and had to stop boxing, but 11 years later the test result was negative. It's a shame he lost 11 years of his boxing career.
A boxer was wrongly told he had HIV, but he objected and took the test four times, and each time it came back negative. He then returned to the ring and won a match against John Castle on February 22, 2007. He had a total of 46 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw in 50 games, with 40 of his wins coming from knockouts. His career was almost ended by the wrong test, but luckily he was able to find another job in the boxing business.
